This policy covers the MenuCents desktop app (Windows, Mac and Linux, including the Microsoft Store version) and the website menucents.com. MenuCents is made by CrownWell Labs, Harford County, Maryland, United States.
What stays on your computer
Everything you put into MenuCents is kept in a database on your own computer: ingredients, prices, recipes, menus, suppliers, stock counts, waste logs and settings. We cannot see it and it is not sent to us.
Scan Invoice reads invoice photos and PDFs inside the app, on your computer. Invoices are never uploaded.
Backups and exports are files you save yourself, wherever you choose.
What we do collect
- Your account. You create a free account the first time you open MenuCents. We keep your email address and a protected (hashed) version of your password, plus when the account was made and last signed in. We use this to sign you in and to know which plan you have.
- Your plan. If you start the free Premium trial or buy Premium, we keep a record of the plan, its status and when it ends.
- Payments. Premium is paid through Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us. We keep the Stripe customer and subscription numbers so renewals and cancellations update your plan. Stripe's own privacy policy covers what Stripe keeps.
- Emails we send you. Account emails, such as confirming your address or resetting your password, are sent through our email provider.
- Update checks. The version downloaded from menucents.com checks for a newer version when it opens. That request shows our download server your IP address and your MenuCents version, like any web request. The Microsoft Store version is updated by the Store instead and does not make this check.
- Our servers' logs. Like most websites and services, our servers keep short technical logs (IP address, time, page or address asked for) to keep things running and stop abuse.
What we don't do
- No ads, and no advertising or tracking code in the app or on menucents.com.
- We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it except with the services needed to run MenuCents (Stripe for payments, and the companies that host our servers and email).
- We don't read your recipes or costs. They never leave your computer.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and plan records while you have an account. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it and its plan records, except anything the law requires us to keep, such as payment records for tax.
Your choices
- See or delete your data. Email [email protected] from your account's address and ask for a copy of what we hold, or for your account to be deleted. We reply within 30 days.
- Data on your computer. Uninstalling MenuCents, or deleting its data folder, removes the data on your computer. Make a backup first if you want to keep it.
Children
MenuCents is a business tool and is not meant for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change is important, we tell account holders by email first.
